The scalp is prone to breakouts just like the face and body. Whiteheads, blackheads and pimples on the upper forehead, at the hairline and in the scalp are not uncommon. Such problems can be caused by genetics, hormones and bacteria. There is also a direct connection between an oily scalp and scalp acne.
You have more serious situation if you have folliculitis. It looks similar to acne. It can develop anywhere there is hair on the body. It is occurring when there is blockage and infection of the hair follicle. The bacteria that causes folliculitis is different from the acne bacteria and can easily spread.
There are several solutions to this problem:
1. To treat an unexpected blemish or two, apply salicylic acid to a cotton swab and dab it on the pimple.
2.
By mild irritations and acne, try a shampoo with 5% Benzoyl Peroxide like PCA Skin (pHaze 31) BPO 5% Cleanser. It consists of anti-inflammatory botanicals that work to control redness and calm irritations. It doesn’t dry out skin like other cleansers with Benzoyl Peroxide, so no wonder it gets rave customer reviews.
3. Medicated shampoos with salicylic acid are also good. They exfoliate the hair follicles and prevent them from getting clogged.
4. If you have severe case of scalp acne, ask your dermatologist if an antibiotic (topical or oral) is right for you.

Two weeks ago I have heard the following statement:
If you are trying to lose weight and you love milk, cheese, butter, or any dairy products, then eat only organic products that have not been pasteurized or homogenized. The dairy products you want to buy should be labeled “organic”. Not organic dairy products have growth hormone in them.
I have taken it seriously and excluded all dairy products from my diet for 5 days. Already in the evening on the third day my stomach looked flatter. I weighted myself and discovered that I am 1 pound lighter than on the usual evenings. So, I guess there is some truth to the whole “growth hormone in the dairy products” thing.
You might want to ask me how about all the good bacteria we usually try to get from the yogurts and such? Well, during these 5 days I relied on
Pure Encap’s Probiotics-5 60Caps. This product is phenomenal: it is dairy-free.
Don’t you want to lose a few pounds before summer? I guess the answer is yes. Try to stay away from the dairy products and take some good probiotic. If you do, please leave a comment and share your experience.
Stay healthy,
Mary
