Probiotics for Kids Prevent Flu and Cold

Children same as adults can and should take probiotics. Probiotics are beneficial for humans bacteria found in fermented food products such as yogurt, sour cream, sauerkraut, and buttermilk. Probiotics are also available as supplements; these formulations can be identical to the organisms that colonize the gut.

Many medical experts believe probiotics may aid digestion, boost the body’s natural defenses, and fight off harmful bacteria that can cause health problems. On 27 July, 2009 6ABC News reported about a new study on kids’ responses to probiotics. Scientist have  found that probiotics reduced cold and flu-like symptoms in kids who took them. They also think that probiotics can be used to prevent and treat all sorts of conditions including asthma, colds, colic, lactose intolerance, and dental cavities.

Here is the list of probiotics designed specifically to reflect healthy child’s microflora. A child’s microflora will closely resemble that of an adult but due to their smaller size, children need much smaller quantities.

Stay healthy,

Mary
